Hey guys! So today I am mixing things up and sharing not only a workout look but also my green smoothie recipe. Green smoothies are the easiest way to get into a good fitness routine, I don't know about you but when I eat healthy I feel more inspired to workout. Now I know everyone has their favorite combo of greens and fruit and that green smoothies are nothing new but I wanted to share a little time saver with you that hopefully helps you with your daily smoothie or if you aren't a smoothie drinker encourages you to become one because this thing is good!
For starters, I wash, chop and freeze my fruit and greens all at once, once a week. Do you food prep for the week? Well apply that to your smoothie making and I swear it will make your week of eating clean a total cinch. I usually buy a carton of strawberries and a carton of blueberries as well as a bag of frozen mango or pineapple (I alternate depending on what frozen fruit is on sale!). I also buy a pound of kale on the stem and a bag of baby spinach. When I get home I wash everything, throw the frozen bought fruit (mango or pineapple) into a gallon freezer bag along with my fresh chopped fruit (strawberries and blueberries) and shake to mix. Then I chop all the kale off of the stems and throw it into a separate gallon freezer bag with a couple handfuls of spinach and shake to mix. Then whenever I want to make a smoothie I just grab a blender, add water, plain greek yogurt, and a banana. Want to take your food prep up a notch? Create individual smoothie bags in quart size freezer bags, one for each day of the week, fill half way with greens and top off with your fruit. You seriously can't mess these smoothies up but prepping them in advance makes drinking a green smoothie everyday so much easier!
Green Smoothie Recipe:
1 cup of plain Greek Yogurt, or any yogurt will do
Splash of water (the more you add the thinner the consistency)
1 cup of frozen fruit mixture (strawberries, blueberries, and mango is my favorite)
1 handful of frozen greens mixture (kale and spinach)
This is my go to smoothie, I actually like it to taste more green then fruity, but alter as needed, just keep in mind the sugar content you add by using certain yogurts and more fruit than greens. Pair your green smoothie with some lipstick and a cute workout outfit! I love these new workout pants from Old Navy, they look like a more expensive option I've seen recently but are only $22! With Spring just around the corner I have been gravitating to lighter colored workout wear, like this bright white pullover, as well as neons for outdoor runs.
