RETRO GLAM

BIKINI TOP | | BIKINI BOTTOMS (SIMILAR) | | JUMPSUIT | | HAT, OLD (SIMILAR) | | SUNGLASSES | | EARRINGS | | LIPS: 'CHERISH' BY REVLON COLORBURST | | NAILS: 'SNOW ME WHITE' BY SINFULCOLORS PROFESSIONAL

I've been trying some different silhouettes in the swimwear department lately, I am typically a string bikini kind of girl mainly for the minimal tan lines, but truly love how other styles flatter the body. Whenever I try something for the first time I tend to get it in black which is exactly what I did here. I love how high waisted shorts fit my figure so I decided to jump on the high waisted swimsuit bottoms band wagon and I sure am glad I did. These bottoms paired with this structured strapless bikini top gives off a very retro glam look which I love! For some extra coverage I knew this sheer patterned jumpsuit would be perfect for a poolside lunch or walk on the boardwalk at the beach. If you are on the fence about trying out the high waisted look this year is the year to do so, both high waisted bottoms and one piece suits are totally on trend. Below are a few of my favorite on trend pieces:

PALMS ON STRIPES

Happy Monday and official start of bikini week! Last year I started bikini week and found it to be such a fun way to share how I transition my every day fashion sense into swimwear. We all know how big print mixing has been and I thought why not incorporate that into what I wear to the pool/beach, I love the subtle stripes of the bikini with the larger palm print sarong, last worn here as a scarf! Styling tip: If you are attempting to print mix for the first time pair a large print with a smaller print, you seriously can't go wrong because the contrasting sizes will play together well. I had to throw on this pineapple tote because seriously my pineapple obsessed self couldn't resist, I found this particular tote at Old Navy for $5, I am unable to find it online but have seen it in stores, so go grab one.

PALM PRINT

BLACK DRESS (SIMILAR) | | PALM PRINT SARONG, WORN AS SCARF | | LACE UP SANDALS | | PURSE | | SUNGLASSES | | WATCH c/o WRISTOLOGY | | LIPS: 'CHERISH' BY REVLON COLORBURST | | NAILS: 'SNOW ME WHITE' BY SINFULCOLORS PROFESSIONAL

Don't get me wrong, I love a good LBD, but in the spring and summer I don't always feel like I get much wear out of them since it seems like such a heavy, formal piece of clothing. However it is totally possible to spring-ify and summer-ize your LBDs with a few lighter colored accessories and items that scream warm weather like open toe shoes and sandals. I snagged this sarong while "window" shopping because not only is it perfect for on the beach but it's the perfect airy scarf for hot temps and I cannot get over the palm print, obsessed. This was the perfect look for a little brunch date and you can bet this dress will now be on repeat with the rest of my summer scarf collection!

BLUE & WHITE

Happy Wednesday! Today I am teaming up with SheIn to showcase this awesome blue and white "dress" that is absolutely perfect for summer. Between the color combo and airy fit I feel as if I should be in Greece or headed off on a tropical vacation. I chose to style this piece as a tunic since my 5'10" frame isn't very forgiving in the length department, but I will definitely be using it as a swimsuit coverup next week at the beach as well! You really couldn't ask for a better silhouette for the summer plus there are pockets, a total win in my opinion. I chose to keep the look crisp and fresh with some white skinnies and nude accessories but could definitely see this top dressed down and tucked into some jean shorts with an oversized tote and sandals.

COM(PLEAT)

I've been thinking a lot lately about what compleats (for the sake of this pleated skirt, today any form of comPLEAT is a thing) my look. Not so long ago I would of said a watch or the perfect amount and mix of jewelry, but now I find myself avoiding both. I am a summer lover, and with summer loving comes a more relaxed pace, time spent lounging in the sun by the water, vacations and my birthday! Maybe it is the summer vibes but my look has gone minimal and it's got me thinking about whether my looks are truly compleat. This look is about as easy breezy as it gets, no fuss, no mess and what I love even more is getting use of an item of clothing like this skirt that I honestly thought I would only wear a handful of times and only be able to dress up like I did here. So I'll be the judge of compleation and say this is a perfectly compleat look ;)

As always, thanks for reading!

THE STORY BEHIND THE DRESS

Happy Thursday! I originally bought this dress months ago, on sale, to be worn on my birthday, which isn't until next Friday. When I saw the neon pink and strappy detail I knew it would be perfect for a birthday night out, regardless of not having made any birthday plans at that point in time, I just had to have it and I have been dying to wear it ever since it arrived in the mail. Forward to last Thursday when I had a Summer rooftop cocktail party to attend and nothing to wear, I kept reaching for this dress but really wanted to prove my impatient self wrong and keep the dress hidden away until my birthday. Well I failed. It screams Summer rooftop cocktail party appropriate and I figured it means that now I get to buy another birthday dress, and I've never been one to say no to a new birthday ensemble!
