BLOGGER EVENTS RECAP

I finally went to my first blogger event last week and I am so glad I finally took the plunge! The fashion blogosphere in DC is pretty lackluster since DC isn't the most fashionable of cities...at all. Finding a group of fashion lovers has been a bit difficult, but I feel like I am finally in the loop! The fabulous members of CapFABB and I got together for CapFABBAcademy "Make It a Business" which was a total blast, not only did we learn a lot but we got to socialize, mingle and Cuba Libre DC hosted a happy hour for us! The venue for the evening was the new CityCenterDC and we had the panel discussion in one of the retail spaces still under construction (we spent plenty of time guessing which fabulous store the space would eventually house, with Kate Spade and Hermès almost completed on either side we had our fingers crossed for a Chanel!)
^Some goodies to start the night^
^The lineup for the evenings panel discussion^
^These ladies were so inspiring and informative. Plus the venue, so cool!^

On Saturday, Macy's at Tyson's Corner Center was having their "Fashion Rocks" fashion show and since I had some items to return and wanted to check out the malls new renovations and metro access I decided to just go ahead and RSVP. The show was great but the after party was even better, I had so much fun socializing and California Pizza Kitchen catered, can you say yum!
^It was such an energetic event, and inspired me to have this weeks Friday Finds feature some of my favorite looks/pieces from the show. Make sure you stop by for some fabulous Fall inspiration!^

Lastly, on Sunday I met up with a bunch of local fashion bloggers for brunch at La Madeleine and to preview a new makeup line. Unfortunately the lighting was horrendous so no pictures from inside the restaurant turned out well :(
^Some of the products from the line, O'Couture Beauty! Let's just say I came home with some goodies :)^
^I got to see this fabulous lady again, which only made the event that much better. Maddy is the voice behind Forever Maddy B^
^Plus, the gorgeous Kesha from Styled by Kesha joined us at the end of the event for pictures!^
^Blogger brunch attire: Charlotte Russe Blazer (similar) // Socialite Jumpsuit via Nordstrom Rack (similar) // Charles by Charles David Pumps // Forever 21 Clutch (similar) // H&M Necklace (similar)

If you are a blogger and have yet to join a community of local bloggers or attend a blogger event I encourage you to do so! I put it off for quite some time and really wish I hadn't, it is such a great way to get to know like minded people and makes your blogger life feel way more legit!

FRIDAY FINDS-FOOD EDITION

We are talking food on the blog today. With the premiere of Scandal and a late night post last night my brain wasn't quite into getting a post for the typical Friday Finds together for today. Luckily I have some great readers/followers who suggested I post the recipes for these pizzas I made and posted on Instagram (@jasmindailyfashion) last night for the Scandal season premiere:
^From front to back: BBQ Chicken Pizza, Pesto Pizza (recipes below), and red wine, a must have when spending the evening with Olivia Pope, recipe not included ;) ^

*I usually make the pizza dough by hand or get fresh from local market, however last night I used Pillsbury Original Pizza Crust which was actually very tasty! - The directions below are according to the Pillsbury packaging*

BBQ Chicken Pizza (Found on Pinterest here):
1lb store bought or homemade pizza dough
Cubed rotisserie chicken (about 1 breast)
Chopped red onion (a handful)
BBQ Sauce
Shredded mozzarella cheese (1 cup)
Chopped cilantro (for garnish)
All purpose flour (to handle dough)
Cornmeal (for dusting baking sheet)

Preheat oven to 400ºF.
Roll out dough on lightly floured surface.
Invert baking sheet and sprinkle with cornmeal.
Put the dough on the inverted baking sheet.
*Skip this step if using homemade pizza dough* -- Preheat Pillsbury pie crust for 5 minutes.
Remove pizza crust from oven and cover in a generous amount of BBQ sauce, leaving a border for the crust.
Evenly distribute the chicken and the red onions.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese atop the chicken and onions.
Bake the pizza for 10-12 minutes.
Remove and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
Let the pizza sit for 5-10 minutes before slicing so that the cheese can settle.
Serve and enjoy!

Pesto Pizza:
1lb store bought or homemade pizza dough
1 large tomato, halved and sliced
3 cups of spinach
Pesto sauce
Shredded mozzarella cheese (1 cup)
All purpose flour (to handle dough)
Cornmeal (for dusting baking sheet)

Preheat oven to 400ºF.
Roll out dough on lightly floured surface.
Invert baking sheet and sprinkle with cornmeal.
Put the dough on the inverted baking sheet.
*Skip this step if using homemade pizza dough* -- Preheat Pillsbury pie crust for 5 minutes.
While the crust is preheating lightly sauté spinach.
Remove pizza crust from oven and cover in a generous amount of pesto sauce, leaving a border for the crust.
Evenly distribute the sautéed spinach and sliced tomato.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese atop the spinach and tomatoes.
Bake the pizza for 10-12 minutes.
Let the pizza sit for 5-10 minutes before slicing so that the cheese can settle.
Serve and enjoy!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend and eat tons of pizza :)

TAKING A TEE FROM DAY TO NIGHT (PART 2)

I love dressing up a tee, for a night out with the ladies I switched out my dark denim for some white skinnies, nude pumps and a glam statement necklace and downsized to my go-to clutch. Originally I planned to keep on the dark denim, however after a day with newly potty trained 2 year olds and a slight accident the pants needed to be changed! I'm glad I did, these jeans from Alloy are the best, being 5'10" means I am always searching for places with Tall sizes, but they were always on the more expensive side. Alloy was the first place I found with reasonably priced extended inseam sizes, but that's not all they are good for, this online store has a fabulous selection of clothing and pricing is right on point.
Alloy is running a great offer until 10/15, 20% off with code: AJK2, so be sure to check it out here!

TAKING A TEE FROM DAY TO NIGHT (PART 1)

Well hello Old Navy from head to toe! For the amount of clothing I own and the number of places I shop I always find it so amusing when I end up in a complete outfit from one place. Having said that, since I only purchase pants from Old Navy/Gap now that they have Tall sizes I guess the likelihood of this happening is pretty high!

Now on to another transitioning piece, the staple graphic tee. I love a good tee, tuck it in, wear it loose, knot it at the waist, however you can wear it I wear it! For this daytime look I paired it with some booties, plum colored for Fall of course, and a similar colored necklace, keeping everything else very simple for an easy breezy daytime look. Tomorrow stop by and find out how I took this tee from day to night!
